He was a retired Sergeant from Swatara Twp. Police Department and also retired as a Dauphin County Sheriff.
He was a member of Robert Burns Lodge No. 464, F & AM, 32nd Degree, Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg Forest No. 43, Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and Fraternal Order of Police. He was past President of Harrisburg Model Airplane Assn., a Firearms Instructor for Dauphin County, and a Sniper on the Dauphin County CERT Team. A dog lover, he was compassionate, funny, loving, and quick to help people. His infectious smile always made us feel at ease.
He was born October 30, 1945 in Harrisburg to the late Amos Sundy and Anne Mae (Scheib) Decker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and David.
He is survived by a son, James Lee Sundy, Jr. (Kathy) of Enola; daughter, Sherry Rose Ju (Steve) of Sacramento, CA; companion, Marylu Wanis of Harrisburg; sister, Cynthia Loeffler of Clarksville, TN; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Viewings will be held from 5 to 7pm Thursday and from 10 until funeral services at 11am Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Reception after service at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Family burial will follow the reception in Spring Glen PA
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
