Rosemary McDonald Hill, age 100, of New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday, February 14, 2016. Born in Sale Creek, Tennessee, Mrs. Hill moved to this area in 1978 from Washington, D.C.
Rosemary graduated from high school in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the age of 16 and then she attended the Florida College for Women (now FSU). A member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Smyrna Beach, Miss Rosie was also a member of the Smyrna Yacht Club. She was a history buff, an amateur artist, an avid tennis player, and loved reading and entertaining.
Survivors include her son, John J. Hill, Jr. of the U.S. State Department in Vietnam; 2 daughters, Rosemary Hill Milby of Rydal, PA, and Joanna Hill of Santa Fe, NM; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Hill, and her 10 siblings.
Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m., Thursday, February 18, at Settle-Wilder’s chapel, with the Reverend Beverly Richardson officiating. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
