Joe McGuire
Joe Roy McGuire went to his heavenly home on February 16, 2016, surrounded by loving family.
Joe was born on June 15, 1945, to Ben and Callie McGuire in Eufaula, Oklahoma, and was the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in Ceres, California, where he met Vicki Leigh Roberts, his wife of 50 years.
After picking fruit as a boy, working at the Rocket Gas Station through high school, and Campbell's Soup as a young man, Joe was hired as a route man for Culligan Water Treatment at the age of 23. He then moved to Los Banos where he became a water treatment specialist, worked hard, and eventually established several successful companies, including Westside Water and McGuire Bottled Water Company of Los Banos.
Joe was an outdoorsman who was so easy to love, fun to be with, dedicated to his family, and faithful to his Creator and Savior.
Joe once gave the following advice to his son, "If you are ever backed into a corner and have no other choice but to fight, don't talk about it and make a big scene, just go as hard as you can and don't worry about winning or losing." Joe chose to fight his battle with cancer in this way, no trumpet blowing or drama, just effort and faith that the outcome was in God's hands. It was this kind of character that has made him respected by so many.
Joe is survived by his wife, Vicki; his daughter, Callie and her husband Bill Gaede of Ceres; his son, Leif McGuire and his wife Jill of Fresno; grandson, Colton Gaede and his wife Casey; granddaughter, Cailan Gaede; granddaughter, Madison and her husband Kyle Allington; and grandson, Luke McGuire.
Joe's body will be laid to rest near many of his family members who have preceded him in death at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA, on Saturday, February 27. His ceremony will be held in the Lakewood Chapel at 10:30am and lunch will be provided at the Los Banos Sportsmens Club, 13989 S Mercey Springs Rd, Los Banos, following the burial. All family and friends are welcome.
