Barbara Ann Hawthorne, age 68, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016. She was born February 16, 1948 in Monroe, Wisconsin the daughter of Duane Melvin and Margaret K. (Krahenbuhl) Hawthorne.


Barbara earned an Associate Degree in Computer Science, a Bachelor Degree in Education, and taught special education in Illinois for ten years.

She moved to Battle Creek in 1984 and worked at the Kellogg Company for more than 20 years. During the 1960s she was a VISTA volunteer in Alabama.

Barbara is survived in passing by two brothers & spouses; seven nieces and nephews; & two special grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at First Assembly of God, 800 South 24th Street, Battle Creek, MI 49015. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Christian Church of Battle Creek or the Barn Theatre.
