Myrna was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson Township High School in Kempton. She went on to attended the St. Vincent School of Nursing in Indianapolis graduating in 1959 as a Registered Nurse. Myrna spent her entire nursing career at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She began as a surgical nurse in 1959 and finished her career as a Nursing Supervisor before retiring in the year 2000. Her present and past memberships include Jefferson Township Alumni, St. Vincent Alumni Association, Kempton Christian Church, Kempton Baseball League, Kempton Lions Club, and her Bridge Club. As hobbies Myrna enjoyed crocheting, watching the birds, playing cards and watching any type of televised sport. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking and preparing for the family get-togethers.
Myrna’s survivors include her children; Angela S. Comer Hogwood of Atlanta, IN, Melissa Kay Brown of Tipton, and a step daughter, Theresa (Dave) Brown Berg of Kempton. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Craig (Stacy) Hogwood, Christy Hogwood Moreland, Sarah (Chad) Urich Hogwood, Caitlyn Hogwood & Aaron Robinson, Samantha Huffer, Kelley Berg, Michael (Amber) Brown, Emily Riddle along with her great grandchildren; Jayden, Jordan and Jackson Hogwood, Ayvah Hogwood and Natalie & Brock Moreland. Her sister, Sandra Johnson Nichols of Las Vegas, Nevada also survives along with several nieces, nephews and loving cousins.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd, a step son Michael Brown, a grandson Chad Hogwood, and two brothers; Bruce and Brice Johnson..
Visitation is scheduled from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday February 26, 2016 at the Kempton Christian Church located at 202 W. Washington in Kempton, IN. Funeral services are set for 10 AM on Saturday, February 27 at the church with Pastor Brian Wik officiating. Internment will take place in Kepton Cemetery immediately following the service. The family would like to offer thanks for the wonderful care provided to Myrna from the staff and physicians at Tipton Hospital and the staff at Millers Merry Manor.
