Madeline Riney, age 95, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Scotland Co. Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Dorothy Madeline Riney was born October 28, 1920, at Arbela, MO, a daughter of Ray and Lela Nickels Smith.

On November 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Richard Joseph Riney at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kahoka, MO. They were the parents of Darlene and Joyce, both of which she dearly loved.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Farran of Quincy, IL and Joyce (Gilbert) Nichols of St. Charles, MO; six grandchildren: Dana (David) Ickes of O’Fallon, MO, Ky (Mari) Nichols of Frankford, MO, Beckie Todd of Quincy, IL, Cindy Russell of Rolla, MO, Danny Farran of Quincy, IL and Tia Farran and fiancé Monty Snyder fo Quincy, IL; thirteen great grandchildren: Cassandra (Mario) Rodriguez of O’Fallon, MO, Erika Shoemaker of Stryker, OH, Seth (Cydnee) Ickes of Lake St. Louis, MO, Tanner Ickes of O’Fallon, MO, Tori Nichols and Trey Nichols of Frankford, MO, Michael Todd of Catlin, IL, Alyssa (Alan) Collins of Payson, IL, Shannan (Wes) Gahr of St. James, MO, Richard Russell of Windemere, FL and Kaitlyn Farran, Tiara Hoing and Teriss Farran, all of Quincy, IL; ten great great grandchildren: Sebastian Rodriguez of O’Fallon, MO, Deacon Dennison, Mason and Tristan Shoemaker, all of Stryker, OH, Cooper, Landyn and Brycen Ickes all of Lake St. Louis, MO, Adelise Collins of Payson, IL, and Tessa and Paxton Lesesne of St. James, MO; as well as one due in May; also nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Riney; a brother, Lowell Edward Smith, who lost his life in the Korean War; and son-in-law, Jim Farran.

Madeline graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1939 and was a member of the Wyaconda United Methodist Church.
