ohn “Harrison” Chappell, 74, of Mooresville, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
He was born July 8, 1940, in Rockingham, NC to the late John Calvin Chappell and Johnsie Martha Reid Sherard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Chappell.
Harrison was employed as a courier for Celligent Diagnostics. He learned to play the piano in his 60’s. He played at church and as a ministry to nursing homes. He was also a great guitar player. Harrison was a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church where he served as an usher, assistant treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
Harrison is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Brotherton Chappell; children, Wayne Chappell (Jane), Donald Chappell, Stella Hooper, Jamie Chappell (Sandie), Greg Chappell (Shannon) and Paula Chappell; brother, Jim Chappell (Cathy); thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Faith Independent Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at 1:00 PM also at Faith Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Seaford officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Park.
