Mr. Ashcraft, who died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Parkway Medical Center, was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Pickens County to Henry and Gladys Ashcraft. He was a retired Alabama State Trooper with 16 years of service, and was the director of the Boys Club in Decatur for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Ashcraft; two sons, David Ashcraft and wife Diane, and Rodney Ashcraft and wife Cris, both of Decatur; one brother, Brooks Ashcraft and wife Elaine, of Decatur; one granddaughter, Carly Ash craft of Decatur; two stepgrandchildren, Anna and James; nephew, David Rivers; and neice, Sheila Rivers.
