He was a minister of a Philadelphia Methodist church and wrote the song 'The Upper Window' it was never copyrighted. He also wrote many hymns and songs. He traveled to South America and was interested in world wide work for lepers. He wrote several books. And after he retires for pastoring his church he devoted himself to visiting leper colonies in different countries where he would preach. He was also known as the flying parson, he was one of the first ministers to perform a marriage ceremony in a plane white it circled City Hall.
