Mike retired as a lieutenant from the Beaumont Police Department in 2006. Early in life he was a forest firefighter. He served in Vietnam in the United States Navy. Mike was very active in animal rescue. He was a wonderful husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Manning of Nederland; son, Ted Manning; daughter, Shannon Manning; stepson, Reagan Carter and his wife, Crystal; stepdaughters, Candy Carter, Cara Elsbury, and Chris Labit and her husband, Eric; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of Mr. Manning’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
