Dorothy was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Jurczyk) Selva. She married Robert "Bob" Hickman on November 26, 1949, in Hammond, Indiana.

Dorothy had lived in the Monticello, Indiana, area for the last eighteen (18) years, coming from the Hammond, Indiana, area. She was a Controller at Marco Iron and Supply in Hammond, Indiana, for 34 years. Dorothy was a member of the American Business Women's Association, American Legion Auxiliary and Crystal Chapter Order of Eastern Star, both of Monticello, Indiana. She was also a member of the Woodmar United Methodist Church of Hammond, Indiana.

She is survived by her daughters Randi and Bobbi, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Richard Selva.

Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello, Indiana, was in charge of arrangements.Dorothy V. Hickman, 85, of Monticello, passed away at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on Friday, March 21, 1930, in Hammond to the late Joseph and Anna (Jurzcyk) Selva. On November 26, 1949, in Hammond she married Robert "Bob" Hickman; he passed away on June 24, 1987. Dorothy had lived in the Monticello area for the last eighteen (18) years, coming from the Hammond area. She had worked as a Controller for Marco Iron and Supply of Hammond for thirty-four (34) years. Dorothy was a member of the Woodmar United Methodist Church of Hammond. Surviving are daughters: Randi (companion Joe Pala) Hickman of Monticello and Bobbi (Jim) Davis of Monon; grandchildren: Amber (Paul) Shonk of Monticello, Dacia (Virgil) Kneadler of Monticello, Brandon Gross of Monon, Ryan Cain of Hammond, and Connor Cain of Monticello; great grandchildren: Trisden Gross, Darick Roth, Gavin Gross, Madisyn Miller, Alex Kneadler, Isabella Shonk, and Maddox Shonk.
