Randy was born in Medford, WI, but spent most of his childhood and young adulthood in Athens, AL before moving to North Carolina about 15 years ago. He graduated from Athens High School, class of 1977. Randy was a commissioning coordinator with Petrotech Inc. of New Orleans, LA for many years and a project manager with Southern Industrial Services prior to his work with Petrotech. He loved the outdoors, spending time with his friends and family, fixing up old hot rods, and anything with 2 wheels and a Harley Davidson emblem on it.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Roy Junior Ferguson; his step father, George Ray Childers; and his sister, Rose Ann Christopher.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Childers of Mooresville; his sister and brother in law, Debbie and Thomas Swing of Salisbury; brother, Ronald Childers of Fayetteville, TN; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Because of Mr. Ferguson’s strong ties to both Alabama and North Carolina, there will be two gatherings to celebrate his life. The first will be held at Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. The second will be Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Athens Cemetery, Athens, AL, from 2-3 p.m.
