Rachel Laverne Hannah, age 76 of Roopville, passed away February 22, 2016. She was born October 16, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John Benjamin Jones and Lerlene Jones. She worked as a secretary in the Regional Recruiting Office at the Ft. Gillem Army Base. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Perry Hannah. Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Hannah Long (Keith) of Athens, GA and Lisa Hannah Wade of Roopville; sister, Vonda J. Moon of Elberton, GA; three grandchildren, Michael J. Long of Athens, Jerry Wade (Chelsea) of Opelika, AL, and Joshua Wade (Amanda) of Carrollton; and great granddaughter, McKayla Gail Wade. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 3:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Dusty Lepard officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers will be Michael Long, Derek Moon, John Moon, Jerry Wade, Joshua Wade, and Tim Lepard.
