Douglas C. "Doug" Dyer, 51, of E. Main St., Port Washington, died late Saturday night, May 3 in Columbus.
Douglas was born in Newark, O., on Dec. 29, 1951, and is survived by his mother, Marguerite E. Boyd Dyer of Port Washington. He was preceded in death by his father Emmett W. Dyer of Port Washington, who died in 1986. Douglas was a graduate of Indian Valley South High School and enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing and camping. He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. Douglas was also a former employee of Stone Container at Coshocton.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, Steven D. and wife Tamara R. Dyer of Macedonia, James W. Esteban of Waianne, Hawaii, and Beverly R. Dyer of Haleyville, Ala. Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond W. and wife Peggy Dyer of Crestview, Fla, and Wayne A. and wife Dorothy Dyer of Port Washington; sister, Vivian A. and husband Wayne Cansler of Spruce Pines, Ala.; aunts , Anna B. Whitis of Newcomerstown and Thelma ( Mrs. Charles ) Glauser of Gnadenhutten; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8,at 1 p.m. in the Ourant Funeral Home at Newcomerstown. Rev. Paul Schwab will conduct the services. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Port Washington at a later date.
