Marlene Alderson, 74, of Albany died Monday at Tierra Rose Care Center in Salem.

She was born in Portland, the daughter of Leonard and Genevieve (Weid) McCaw. She was raised mostly in Jefferson and lived in the Jefferson/Scio/Albany areas all of her adult life.

Marlene married Dale Grover in Jefferson in 1950. They later divorced.

She married Valmer C. Alderson in Jefferson in 1969. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1999.

She enjoyed crafts, woodworking, crocheting and doing puzzles. She loved working in her flower garden. She was very proud of being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marlene is survived by children Michael Alderson of Albany, Valorie "Micki" Knuckles of Eugene, Monte Alderson of Salem, Londa Groah of Silverton, Roger Grover of Tacoma, Wash., Terry Grover of El Centro, Calif., and Sjon Grover of Beatty, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Butch McCaw of Sweet Home; and sister Mervine King of Jefferson.

A graveside service will be Saturday at the Jefferson Cemetery.
