John Lewis Dillon, 81, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 1995, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Dillon was preceded in death by his parents, David Gilliam Dillon and Julia Pasley Dillon, and a sister, Thelma Dillon Caldwell.

Mr. Dillon was a Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He retired after 30 years of service with the N & W Railway.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Alva Pauline Caldwell Dillon; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra D. and Norman B. King, Salem; four grandchildren, Lori A. King, Lisa Marie King, both of Roanoke, Kevin Lee King, Amanda Laine King, both of Salem; brother, Levi Dillon, Providence Forge; sisters, Ida Craft, Moneta, Ruby Fulk, Roanoke, Betty Robertson, Moneta; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakey's North Chapel by Dr. Alton M. Washington and Dr. J. Michael Palmer. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel.
