Carol Jean was a wonderful, Christian woman, who loved her husband and family. She was a member of the Bessemer First Baptist Church for many years until they merged and became the Baptist Church at McAdory. She was a Bible teacher, and sang in the choir at both churches. She was also a member of the Girl Scout Council of the Birmingham Area, was an avid golfer, bowler, and loved to play bridge. She was an Auburn fan. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Jan Garrett, and Nan Garrett Kean (Tom), 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Services were Monday, Sept. 7, 2015 at the Baptist Church at McAdory, with Brother Bill McCall officiating. Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home handled the arrangements. She was the daughter of Oscar Samuel Parker and Robbie Lillian Canterbury Parker. Her maternal grandfather was Dr. Robert Sherwood Canterbury.
