Dale Milton Boyd, 71, died peacefully on Jan. 30, 2016, of complications of vasculitis and kidney failure in Klamath Falls, Ore.

He was born on Aug. 17, 1944, in San Bernardino, Calif., the son of late the Harold Harrison Boyd and Gertrude Henrietta (Bouma) Boyd Leistikow. He was the youngest of four children. He attended Rialto Elementary School for two years. The family moved in 1954 to Keno, Ore., where Dale attended Keno Elementary School. Later, the family moved to Klamath Falls and he attended Altamont Middle School and Klamath Union High School, graduating in 1962. Dale joined the Navy in 1962 and was initially an aviation machinist. He was promoted to petty officer third class and flew as second orderly. He worked line maintenance and air logistics (was in charge of weight and load distribution of armament and freight on planes) during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii, and traveled extensively as part of his service. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and returned to Klamath Falls.

In February 1966, he married Carol L. Tucker in Klamath Falls. They had two children, Stacy L. Boyd and Jason D. Boyd. He and Carol were married for 20 years until divorcing in 1986. Dale subsequently married Doris Vivian (Hill) Nelson in September 1990. They were married for 24 years until her death in October 2014.

Dale worked at various jobs over the years, mostly as a driver/salesman, warehouseman and freight manager in Klamath Falls for Mayfair Markets, Crater Lake Creamery, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and Klamath Tobacco and Candy. At Weyerhaeuser Co., he was a cat operator. He worked for Tulelake Horseradish Company (subsequently Mezzetta) for 16 years, at first as a laborer and later as assistant manager, running the horseradish bottling operation and store in Tulelake, Calif. Even later, he worked as a courier for Lab Corp and Swift Couriers. He was well known by his employers for his exemplary work ethic and good attitude.

Dale retired in 2006 and enjoyed more time for his family and his hobbies. He loved cars and was always involved in car restoration projects. He owned 30-plus vehicles and motorcycles over the course of his life. He was most proud of his 1948 Ford Coupe (on which he won a first place trophy) and 1952 MG TD restorations. A 1963 MGB convertible was his latest project at the time of his death. He also loved fishing, gardening, barbecuing burgers, walking his dog, target shooting, eating and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Cross Timbers Baptist Church for many years. He was also a member in the Klamath British Touring Society (KBriTs), a local club in Klamath Falls for those who own British-made cars. Dale enjoyed their monthly excursions, driving his MG to meet up, have lunch and talk cars.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Harold H. Boyd and Gertrude H. (Bouma) Leistikow; step-dad, Arthur Leistikow; niece, Stephanie M. Krueger; and most recently his wife, Doris V. (Hill) Boyd and his brother, Roger E. Boyd in 2014.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy L. Boyd and Stephen W. Brock of Hillsboro, Ore.; son and his wife, Jason D. Boyd and Koosje L. Boyd of Portland, Ore.; sister, Susan M. Jacobs of Wilder, Idaho; brother and sister-in-law, Warren L.
