Moser, William Edward
Bill (WEMO) Moser, 70, of Roanoke, VA passed away on February 18, 2016. He was the son of the late Wilson W. and Audrey Martin Moser.

Other survivors include two devoted cousins Kitty Looney and John Martin of Roanoke, cousins Tristan, Nichole, Wanda, Candice, JW; sister-in-law and family Cynthia, Darius, Shane, and Brandon Hepler; cousin Ida Atkins; and many others. Bill is preceded in death by his loved brother-in-law James Strumb, cousin Monte Looney, and Aunt Betty Jane Clark.
Bill grew up in Roanoke, graduating from William Fleming HS and East Tennessee State. He served in the naval reserves and the US Navy. Bill joined the Roanoke City Police Department in 1972, retiring as Sergeant following a severe line-of-duty injury in 1991.
Bill was an outgoing, friendly person who loved a good laugh and in his prime, was a teller of jokes extraordinaire! Bill was always willing to reach out to others and to lend a helping hand. He treasured his family, friends, and his Roanoke roots.
Bill was a member of Cave Spring’s Lion’s Club and the Lakeland Masonic Lodge No. 190. He loved the outdoors and lived for hunting season. He was an avid football fan, always favoring the Washington Redskins.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all who assisted with Bill’s care and treatment, particularly in the past 5 years. A special thank you to Dr. Katz, the staff at the Adult Daycare Center of Roanoke Valley, CNAs Renee, Jennifer, Lisa, and Niki, and all the staff at VA Veterans Care Center of which he was a resident for the past year. We are forever grateful that Bill was able to remain in his own home up until then.
Oakey’s North Chapel Funeral Home on Peters Creek Road is handling the funeral arrangements. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday Feb. 21 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service for Bill will be held on Monday February 22 at 2pm at Oakey’s North Chapel with graveside to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Virginia Veterans Care Center.
The family thanks each of you for your prayers, friendship, and support.
