Esther Davis, age 90, of Joplin, Mo. Passed away January 4, 2014, at Freeman Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born in Ritchey, Mo., to Alexander Marion ll and Della Larmer, of Ritchey, Mo. Esther was married to Lloyd Davis Sr. Who proceeded her in death on April 15, 1983. Esther was also proceeded in death by her first husband, Clyde Monroe Dowell. Esther is survived by one brother, Pete Marion, of Pierce City, Mo. and nine children. Patricia Clark, Larry Dowell, Louis (Cathy) Bradley, Roy Dowell, Mary Kavanaugh, Marvin Davis, Donna Davis, Lloyd Davis Jr., and Teresa Snow all of Mo. Esther was also had 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Esther is survived by one brother, Pete Marion, of Pierce City, Mo. and nine children. Patricia Clark, Larry Dowell, Louis (Cathy) Bradley, Roy Dowell, Mary Kavanaugh, Marvin Davis, Donna Davis, Lloyd Davis Jr., and Teresa Snow all of Mo. Esther was also had 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Esther found great joy in her children and growing family. She celebrated all their successes and shared in all their sorrows. She spent her years tending to her home and various hobbies. Her best friend was her sister, Kate Marion who proceeded her in death Nov. 2001. Esther also was preceded in death by brothers, Avery Marion, Rosen Marion, and Roy Marion all of whom she loved very much. Visitation services will be held at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. January 9, at the Mason Woodard Chapel with Rev. Keith Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Jackson Cemetery, south of Joplin. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
