Anthony "Tony" Fuentes, 57, passed away at home in Eagle River, Alaska, on Feb. 5, 2016.

Tony was born in Charleston, S.C., was a 1976 graduate of Crowley High School and a retired veteran of the United States Air Force.

For the last 17 years Tony worked at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

Tony loved introducing others to hunting, fishing and the great Alaska outdoors. He coached baseball and enjoyed camping, firewood gathering, bicycling and knitting.

Tony is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan; his son, Garen and wife Katie of Niceville, Fla.; and daughter, Robyn of Anchorage, Alaska. Other survivors include five brothers; one sister; and countless friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Fuentes Jr. and Florida Dumesnil Fuentes; and nephew, Chandler Douget.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any donations be made to the Anthony Fuentes memorial fund at Wells Fargo to support his sister, Bonnie, who is battling cancer. Tony was helping provide support for her medical care.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. All wishing to attend the service are welcome to meet at 11 a.m. at the Fort Richardson gate off the Glenn Highway to be escorted to the Fort Richardson National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Elmendorf Air Force Base Midnight Sun Chapel at 12:30 p.m.

We will miss our beloved husband, father and friend more than words can express, but his memory will be alive for our lifetime. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
