Ray was raised in St. Paul, Minnesota and was a graduate of St. Paul High School. Ray was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War serving in Germany and Plattsburgh, New York.
He was employed as a salesman for Tek Bearing and Bearing Distributors, and he was working part time for G Force Industrial in East Greenbush as a janitor. He resided in Malta from 1991-2004 when he moved to Troy.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathleen M. Allen Fleming; children, Terri (Tom) Hanson of Latham, Kathy (Grant) Stein of Loudonville, Vicki (Craig) Hooper of Nelson, New Hampshire, Phyllis (Chet) Grenda of Winchester, New Hampshire, Jack (Lisa) Mandigo of Reaford, North Carolina and Elizabeth Hamilton of Troy; grandchildren, James Johnson, Anthony Tasso, Ernest White, Ashley Gomarlo, Tony and Kaitlyn Johnson, Miranda White, Brianna Stein, Adam and Timothy Mandigo and Carter Blond; great grandchildren, Gavin, Avery, Ricky, Harper and Mackenzie; siblings, Michael (Nancy) Fleming of Tacoma, Washington and Robert (Judy) Fleming of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tuesday, February 23, 2016 will be the commital service and military honors at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
