Orville Milton Raasch, son of Herman and Ruth (Krei) Raasch, was born August 11, 1936 in Synnes Township. He grew up and attended school in Alberta, graduating in 1954. Following his schooling, Orville worked at the Stevens County Highway Department. On June 13, 1959, he was united in marriage to Marianne Loher at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio. The couple made their home on Orville's parent's farm south of Alberta, where he began farming. Later they moved to Marianne's family's farm north of Alberta. Upon his retirement, Orville did yard maintenance at Klesspie Tank. Orville lived in the Alberta area all his life up until his time of death.
Orville was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio, 9-F Sportsman Club, Alberta Wildlife Federation, Alberta Area Improvement Corporation and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and took great pride in maintaining his century family farm.
Orville died on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 79 years.
He is survived by his wife: Marianne Raasch of Alberta; three children: Kelly (Lorri) Raasch of Clarion, IA, Karla (Vern) Powlish of Graceville and Patrick Raasch of Marshall; six grandchildren: Justin (Liz) Raasch, Jennifer (Jared) Bremer, Melissa (Jesse) Washnesky, Corey (Brittney) Powlish, Matthew (Katie) Powlish and Amy Powlish; three great-grandchildren: Payton Raasch, Logan Powlish and Marc Washnesky; brother: Wallace (Punky) Raasch of Morris; two sisters-in-law: Stella Raasch of Chokio and JoAnn Loher of Appleton. Orville was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Delbert, Luverne and Lloyd Raasch; brother-in-law: James Loher; three sisters-in-law: Lianne Raasch, Rosella Raasch and Jeanette (Warren) Svendsgaard; father-in-law: Lester Loher and mother-in-law: Mae Loher.
