Gene Warren Robinson, 82, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on February 14, 2016.
Gene was born on August 7, 1933 in Salem, Oregon to Kendall Robinson and Opal Jenkins. He had one sister, Ida.
Gene moved to Boise at a young age. He lived with his parents for a while and then was raised at the Children's Home Orphanage. He started working odd jobs at age 7.
Gene attended Boise schools and then joined the Navy. He was a Sea Bee in the Korean War. He served from 1950-1954. While in the service, he had a daughter, Jeanette Timmons (Joe).
Gene then returned home to Idaho and married Marie Elisa Basabe. Together then had three children, David G. Robinson, Gena M. Sheehey (Christopher), and Daniel A. Robinson.
Gene was a steel worker at Gate City Steel, carpenter for Javerinick Construction, restaurant manager for Sizzler Steakhouse and later became an insurance agent for Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Gene was an excellent golfer, hunter and fisherman. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler, scoring a perfect 300 game. He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers and his dogs.
In 1992, Gene married Rita Robinson. They divorced in 2008, but she was the glue that held the family together, even continuing to take care of him during his failing health.
Gene is survived by his son, Daniel Robinson of Boise; daughters, Gena Sheehey of Colorado and Jeanette Timmons of Arizona. His son, David Robinson preceded him in death. Gene has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In respecting Gene's wishes, no services will be held. He will be cremated and placed at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
