Richard Grounds, 42, Route 1, West Frankfort, died Wednesday in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis MO. He was born September 1, 1934 in Ferges to Clarence and Lillian Bristow Grounds. He was married to Mary Helen Meneese November 4, 1955 and she survives. Other survivors include two children; Robyn and Doug Grounds, both at home, seven sisters; Mrs. Audrey Haynes, Herrin; Dorthella Youngblood, Herrin; Maude Oglesby, Herrin; Pauline Frick, Marion, Mary Cockburn, Johnston City; Betty Oliver, Pensacola FL; and Arietta Gussentine, Johnston City; and four brothers; Ernest and Larry Grounds, both of Herrin; A.W. Grounds of Route 3, Marion and Bill Grounds of Johnston City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services will be Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Herrin with the Rev. Ray Maragni officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery.
