NC Supreme Court Judge, served as one of the original three judges of the North Carolina Supreme Court. He was elected by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1818 and served on that court from its first meeting in January 1819 until 1832.
His father, Edward Hall, a native of Ireland. In 1744 Edward married Eleanor Stuart, a daughter of Archibald Stuart, Sr.
John Hall married Mary Weldon, the daughter of William Weldon and granddaughter of Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Weldon, an officer of North Carolina militia during the American Revolution.
He was a Mason and held several positions within the Johnston-Caswell Lodge as well as serving as sixth Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina. Attended the College of William and Mary.
