Mrs. Doris Suggs Carter, age 80, of Waycross, died Thursday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waycross following a short illness.

Born in Blackshear, Ga. and was a daughter of the late Archie Kennon and Dessie Mae Dean Suggs.
She lived all of her life in Blackshear and Waycross and was a housewife. She was also a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church and will be remembered by her family as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Bryant; and her brother, Bobby Suggs.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Lloyd Carter of Waycross;
her 2 daughters
, Debra Carter Rowell of Blackshear
Vickie Carter White (husband Steve) of Waycross;
3 grandchildren,
Leslie Rowell Fulford of Waycross,
Hannah Nicole White (fiancé Alan Arnold) of Waycross,
Christopher Lloyd White of Atlanta;
a great grandson,
Gage Fulford of Waycross;
and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Sunday afternoon (2/21/16) at 2 PM in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service.

Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear is in charge of arrangements

Debbie of the Journal Herald ; I'm so sorry to here this morning that your mother had passed , Van and Eddie told me when I didn't see you at work this morning ; If you need anything let me know I will see you soon... Tell your father Lloyd that I'm sorry and your sister Vic...... I know you said she was having a little trouble last week and ya'll took her to the Dr. but no one knew ; and we were just talking at noon yesterday to her on the phone ... I'll call you .. God Bless , she is in a better place with the Lord and meeting her parents again ....Your parents were so sweet, dad just had his birthday last month...
