Bill was born in Carteret, NJ on April 13, 1931, a son of the late William Raymond & Pauline Evelyn Hughes Vaughn, Sr.
Mr. Vaughn was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School, Class of 1949. Mr. Vaughn was a proud American Patriot having served his country with distinction in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from SRS as a Separations Operator. Bill was a member of Talatha Baptist Church and was a former member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he served on the Building Committee of the second church sanctuary. In addition, while at Millbrook, Bill was a member of the Whittler's Club, the Senior Adult Choir and the Christian Angler's Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, adventurer and explorer. But most of all, he was a loving husband, daddy and papa who cherished his family with his whole heart.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his loving wife, Louella Holley Vaughn and her entire family who was such an important part of Bill's life for the last 16 years; two daughters and son-in-law's, Ann V. & William Kitchings of Aiken and Julie V. & Robert Jackson of Trenton, SC.; grandchildren, Joshua & Rebecca Kitchings, Will Jackson & Lillie J. & Jake Starnes; and great grandchildren, Juliann, Harper, Asa, James Wilson "JW", Harrison & Carson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughn was pre-deceased by his first two wives, Betty Davis Vaughn & Evelyn Lyell Vaughn; a son who passed away in childhood, John Earl Vaughn and a sister, Evelyn Springer.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will take place on Monday morning, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Talatha Baptist Church, 361 Talatha Church Road, Aiken, SC 29803 with Dr. Chris Masters and Rev. Jordan Bird officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery & Mausoleum.
