Ola Maude Dixon Walker
(October 7, 1911 - July 17, 2011)

Mrs. Ola Maude Walker, 99, of Blackshear died late Sunday night at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness. She was born in Blackshear to the late Lee Dixon and Bertie Altman Dixon Proctor. Mrs. Walker made Pierce County her home for her entire life before moving to Baptist Village in 1999. She was a homemaker who also worked on the family farm. Mrs. Walker was formerly a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was presently a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a member of the Pierce County Homemakers Club. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Benard Walker, Sr.

Mrs. Walker is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Blount and her husband Horace of Blackshear, Jewnell Eichelberger and her husband James of Atlanta, two sons, James R. Walker and his wife Sue of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, William B. Walker, Jr., of Waycross, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday in the Mitchell Chapel at Baptist Village. Burial will follow in Blackshear City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-3 p.m., at the Mitchell Chapel.
