Violet B. Ormsby

Mrs. Violet B. Ormsby, 77,107 N. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, died early Friday evening, March 16, 2001, at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, after an extended illness.
She was born July 12,1923, in Taylor Township, Martinsburg RR 2, a
daughter of the late Daniel C. and Sarah May (Weitzel) Blattenberger and was married to Stanley G. Ormsby on April 13, 1946, in Altoona.
Mrs. Ormsby attended Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and formerly attended the East Freedom Chapel, where she also was a former Sunday school
teacher. She formerly led many Stonecroft women's Bible studies in the Morrisons Cove area.
She formerly was employed at the office of Dr. Hershberger and Dr. Kerr, Martinsburg, and also at the K. R. Miller Funeral Home and Pyrofax Gas Distributor, Martinsburg, and she was a lifetime homemaker.
Mrs. Ormsby was a 1941 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg RR I.
She enjoyed attending auctions, buying and restoring antiques and
reading. She was a former volunteer at Morrisons Cove Memorial
Park, Martinsburg.
Surviving are her husband; three sons: S. Gordon of Corvallis, Ore., Sidney C. of Roaring Spring RR I and Nathan P. of Martinsburg: two daughters:
Fawn D. Ishom of Chesapeake,Va., and Juel M. Ormsby of Stongstown; two sisters: Audrey B. Wineland of Martinsburg and Mary Ellen Leidy of Lakemont; and 10 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by five brothers: Paul, Harold, Cletus, George and Drew and three infant brothers: a sister: Lenore Wineland; and a daughter-in-law, Deborah J. (Provins) Ormsby.
According to the wishes of the deceased, there w ill be no public viewing; however, there will be a visitation from 11 am. until noon Tuesday at the John C.
Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
Funeral services w ill be held at noon Tuesday at the funeral home by Pastor James S. Laird Sr. and Pastor Robert A. Russell.
Private interment at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church Building Fund or the Martinsburg Community Library.
