Leonard Wayne Moss, 67, entered into Glory Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at his home in Dallas Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday Aug. 27, 2006 at the Dallas Center-Grimes Middle School Auditorium in Dallas Center. Burial will follow at the Brethren Cemetery. Leonard was born December 2, 1938 in Dallas County. He was a 1956 graduate of Dallas Center High School. He co owned and operated a farm equipment dealership, Moss Brothers Inc. with his brother since 1969. He was very involved in the Dallas Center community, serving as a Township Trustee, City Council Member, a foster parent, student exchange parent, and served in various offices for the Dallas Center Fire Dept. of which he was a member for 26 years and First Responders for 22 years. He was the emcee of the Dallas Center Fall Festival for 36 years, and served faithfully as an Elder of Christ's Church for 36 years. Surviving is his wife of 45 years Sharilyn Kay at home, his mother Beulah Reed of Dallas Center, his 8 children Richard of Stuart, Andrew (Virginia) of Winchester, IL Amy (Joel) Hofland, Melody (Ron) Steilen, both of Dallas Center, Philip (Kim) of Cedar Falls, Dawn (Scott) Crecelius, of Dallas Center, Megan and Micah of Grimes. His brother Jerry (Mary Sue) of Dallas Center five sisters Esther (Marvin) Haldeman of Quinter Kansas, Marilyn (Milton) Cook of Beaumont, CA, Edith of Modesto, CA, Catherine (Wilbur) Sheets of Dallas Center, Martha (Doug) Brown of Ottumwa, 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday after 3 p.m. at the Dunkard Brethren Church, 23209 Quinlan Ave., north of Dallas Center. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Dallas Center Fire and Rescue or to the Leonard Moss scholarship fund.
