Wendall E. Stivers, 66, of Monmounth, Illinois, died at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born to John M. and Mary Lingafelter Stivers. On July 15, 2002, he married Phyllis A. Beaman in Monmouth.

Mr. Srivers was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959, and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until 1969, during the Vietnam War. He was the founder of the Not-for-profit Hands Foundation in 1982. He was an advocate for the disabled and volunteered for many activities. He was a member of First Christian Church in Monmouth.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Jeff of Burlington, Rodney Cunningham of Davenprort, and Alonzo Artega of Florida; daughters, Kathy of Burlington, Chris of Marshalltown, Dianna Zinna of Pilot Grove, Missouri, and Teresa Middleton of Monmouth; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Ballard and Debra Dycus, both of Monmouth, Sharon Horvarth of East Moline, Illinois, Pam Lybarger of Monmouth, and Diana Madrid of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; brothers, James D. of Mundelein, Illinois, Michael of Cedar Crest, New Mexico, and David of Rio Rancho.

He was preceded in derath by his parents and two brothers.

The memorial service was held at First Christian Church in Monmouth with the Rev. Jim Epperson officiating.
