Betty passed away on September 16, 2006.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on August 1, 1923, to Ellen and Christian Ness, a Norwegian immigrant.
She was a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Sigma Phi while at the University of Iowa and was a USO Club volunteer during WWII.
She loved working as an executive secretary at Iowa Manufacturing and at the Post Intelligencer newspaper in Seattle until she met her adoring husband Bill, with whom she spent 57 years building a rich and beautiful life.
Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bill, their three treasured children, Roxanne Heaberlin, Jeffrey Judd, and Cynthia Libbee, and much-loved daughter-in-law and son-in-law Melinda Judd and Michael Libbee.
Precious grandchildren grieving her passing are Garrett Judd, Jesse Short and his wife Heather, Marissa, Amanda, and Kyle Libbee.
She will also be missed by her great-grandson Jonathan Short. Betty leaves behind her older sister Audrey Schroeder and nieces and nephews in Washington State.
Betty's lifelong passions included "old movies," bowling, IOF, painting, golfing (yes, she had a hole in one!), and all kinds of sports, including the Kings and the Sweet 16 tournament, and she and Bill were "pure grace" on the dance floor!
Her life was filled with many friends, most of whom have already passed on - the rum and Coke is flowing in that heavenly lounge! Betty was a fun-loving companion and devoted wife who held fast to her own independence.
She had a generous spirit and was a marvelous mother. Dear Betty, the love of your life will miss you every waking moment, and we are all blessed with your memories. Until we meet again...
Mourners are welcome to her viewing on Thursday, Sept. 21, from Noon-8:00 PM at South East Lawn Memorial Park, 9189 East Stockton Boulevard, in Elk Grove.
Friday's interment services are private.
