Birth: Apr. 21, 1917 Death: Jul. 6, 1993 Tulsa World July 9th 1983LOCUST GROVE - Leonard V. Yarborough,retired superintendentof Locust Grove schools, died Tuesday in Tulsa. He was 76.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Peggs Community Church, where he was a member, and the burial will be in New Home Cemetery in Peggs. Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove is handling arrangements.Born in Peggs, Yarborough moved to Tulsa at age 3 and attended Tulsa schools. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1935. He attended Northeastern University and Oklahoma A & M University in Stillwater, where he earned his master's degree in administration. He began working with Locust Grove schools in 1953, serving as teacher and principal, and he retired as superintendent in 1982.He was a member of Mayes County Retired Teachers Association and received a VIP award from the organization. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Locust Grove; stepmother, Georgia Boucher of Tulsa; daughter, Halline Littlefield, of Tulsa; son, Dr. William "Dub" Yarborough, of Tulsa; sister, Nell Kincaid, of Tulsa; two brothers, Guin Yarborough, of Tulsa, and Johnny Farmer, of Reno, Nev.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
