PRATT – Melba Norby Scott, 91, died Feb. 15, 2016, at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1924, to Oscar M. and Blanche G. Pearson Norby.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of P.E.O., The Coterie, a volunteer at Pratt Regional Medical Center and the Pratt County Historical Museum, and was an active member of the First Christian Church, Pratt. She was the first homecoming queen at Pratt High School, and attended Kansas State University. She sang in the church choir, was secretary of the church board and champion syrup maker for the First Christian Church pancake supper.

On Dec. 23, 1945, she married Richard Y. Scott, who survives, at Pratt. Other survivors include her children, Andrew R. Scott, Bend, Oregon, Janene Orem and husband Terry, Preston, Jo Allyn Scott, Cuchara, Colorado, Timothy D. Scott and wife Karen, Sterling, Virginia, Jonathan Y. DeVier Scott and wife Mary, Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Daniel W. Scott and wife Maureen, Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Marvin Norby, Sioux City, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Norby; and a sister, Drusilla Parker.

Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Robin Colerick-Shinkle officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, 115 E. Fourth, Pratt, KS 67124.
