CIVIL WAR VETERAN-- Joined the Iowa Infantry, Company A, 9th Regiment, in August 1861. He was wounded when he was struck above his right eye by a bullet. In 1865 he was mustered out as a Corporal. Lucius was the son of James M. & Asenath/Senith Bennett. He married Susan Marie Denny, the daughter of James G. & Eliza Sackett Denny, May 22, 1866, Cedar Co., IA. They had four children Merritt Sherman, Malcom, Frank, & Alberta A. Lucius was the Grandfather of Lindus Aaron Bennett and Great Grandfather of Lyle Edwin Bennett.
