Life-long resident of Newport News, VA. She worked twenty years at Steven's Bakery, and was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church and treasurer of the Sunday school class.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John Grady Wells Sr (1914-1976); a son, David Wells; brothers, Morton and Paul Matheny; sisters, Merdis Matheny, Sybil Rock, Marie Arnett and Dixie Normandy.
She was survived by two sons; two daughters; a daughter-in-law; two sons-in-law; and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Burial service was private.
