He graduated from Jackson Northwestern High School in 1960. He served in the US Navy for 2 years, and after his honorable discharged he earned an Associate Degree from Jackson Community College.
On November 2, 1985, he married Shirley Watkins in Homer, MI. Bob worked for Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company in Jackson for 20 years; when the plant closed, he went to work for General Motors in Lansing for 25 years. He retired in 2007. Bob was a member of the Big 9 Sportsman Club and the Red Fox Sportsman Club. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Marshall; children, Suzanne (Mike) Hahn of Goochland, Virginia, Michael (Venisa) Cox of Winter Haven, Florida, Pamela (Terry) Williams of Quincy, Sandra (Dan) Hammond of Battle Creek, and Michelle (Ken) Poe of Homer; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Ron (Sandy) Hendrick of Parma and Paula (Richard) Larson of Rapid City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Brent Hendrick in 1988.
Funeral services celebrating his life took place on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes Marshall Chapel with Pastor Brian Hendrick officiating. Family gathered with friends following the services in the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall. Interment followed the luncheon at Jones Cemetery in Rives Township.
Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Kids Day fund at the Red Fox Sportsman Club.
