John E. Rothwell(December 31, 1923 - February 10, 2016)

John Eugene "Gene" Rothwell passed away February 10, 2016. He was born to Grace M. (Windsor) and John W. Rothwell on December 31, 1923, in Viola, ID. He graduated from Palouse High School before joining the Army. He served in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946.

In 1949 he met and married Norine Mary Bendixen. They were married for 32 years. He retired from working at Kaiser in Trentwood as a sheet metal linesman after 30 years. He has always been an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing, hunting and huckleberry picking. After he and Norine began a family, they continued those activities with their children and grandchildren.

Gene is proceeded in death by his wife Norine, his brothers Joe and Robert, sisters Matilda, Beatrice and June, his son Michael and his grandson Ryan.

He is survived by his daughters Linda and Cheryl (Scott) and his son John (Lori), his grandchildren Chris (Tiffany), Holly (Todd), Shannon (Ryan), Eric (Brandi), Jessica (David) and Drew, and several great grandchildren.

As a veteran, Gene was passionate about supporting those who have served our country. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or the Wounded Warriors Project. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 2:00pm at The Pines Cemetery Mausoleum, 1402 S Pines Rd Spokane Valley, WA.
