Don Whitten, 84, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2016. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet. Don graduated from high school in 1950. He joined the Marine Corps and served in Korea, stationed in Hawaii. He married Betty in 1952. He was at Pearl Harbor. After discharge they went back to Fort Worth and he worked for TXU Electric. He was an avid hunter and loved Colorado and was always into sports. Don was also a member of Tarrant County Sheriff's Posse under Harlan Wright. Don and Betty loved traveling and camping. They helped form Pioneer Trailblazers in 1968 and Pioneer Ramblers. They had one son, Don Robert, who was born in 1953. Don was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Edmon, Johnny and Kenneth. Survivors: His wife of 64 years, in January, Betty; son, Don Robert; sister, Tawana Lewis; three grandchildren, Eric, Don Russell and Kathy; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Cohen Grey; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
