Cordova, TN - Rebecca Jane Hurley Day, born February 17, 1930 in Meridian, Mississippi, passed from this life on February 14, 2016 after a brief illness at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House. She is survived by her son Steve Day, his spouse Lynn, two grandchildren Megan Elizabeth and Sarah Elaine Day as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A lover of all things to do with her Irish heritage, Becky was a devoted Roman Catholic and an Associate Member of the Sisters of the Most Holy Cross and Passion, an International Catholic Institute of Women Religious. A teacher for over 40 years with a Masters degree in Education, she retired from the Memphis City School System after 30 years devoted to Special Education. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her kindness and generosity of spirit, for her life-long fortitude, and for the ever-present sense of humor she maintained throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Becky's favorite charity, the St. Vincent DePaul Society. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 7801 Lowrance Rd. Memphis. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, 3700 N.
