Martha B. Holloway passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 13, 2014. She was the daughter of the late J. Oscar and Catherine Bollinger of York, PA.
She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1949. She moved to Wilmington in 1950 and spent the next 25 years as a homemaker raising her family. In 1976 she returned to nursing and spent the next 30 years as a Registered Nurse for Foulk Manor North Nursing Home.
Marty loved gardening, flower arranging, attending the theater, playing bridge, reading and traveling. She was active and energetic her entire life. Her passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. She loved spending vacations with her family in the Adirondacks and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
She was pre-deceased by her sister Louise Myers and her former husband William J. Holloway M.D. She is survived by her children, William J. (Jack) Holloway Jr. (Maryann) of Wilmington; Gail Hradek (Art) of Glen Ellyn, IL; Carol Peoples(Joe) of Wilmington; Susan Holloway (Tom Sarnese) of Collingswood, NJ; Philip Holloway (Kathy) of Harleysville, PA; and Judy Hanus (Tom) of Hockessin, DE; 18 grandchildren: Michael, Lauren, Andrea, Amanda, Richard, Kristin, Adrienne, Andrew, Emily, Brooke, Evan, Hilary, Jonathan, Rebecca, William, Corey, Veronica and John, and great granddaughter, Alexa; a sister Julia Becker (Edward) of Chadds Ford, PA and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 11am, at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOMES, 3924 Concord Pk., Wilmington, where friends may call after 10:00am. Burial will be private.
