Elnora R. Van Clark died peacefully on February 15, 2016. She was born July 4, 1921 to Elmer and Avo Bowen in Harrison County, MO. She was raised on a farm and went to country schools. Elnora graduated from Lamoni, IA high school in 1940. She taught school in one room schools for several years. In 1942 she attended summer school at Simpson College where she met her future husband Worth. She and Worth were married February 6, 1944.
Elnora was a wonderful caring mother and grandmother. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to be individuals and pursue their dreams. She enjoyed teaching, sewing, reading, quilting and international travel. She was involved in Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, PTA, Questers and was a Campfire Leader. Elnora had been a resident at the Village for over two years and was loved by all.
Elnora is survived by her five children, Andra Kennedy (Norman), Lynne Van Clark (Curt Sorteberg), Ellen Gripp (Rick) all of Indianola, Cheryl Van Clark (David Denzler) of Gilroy, CA and John Van Clark (Ivanka) of Lynnwood, WA; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. Elnora was preceded by her husband Worth, parents, four brothers, one sister and a grandson.
The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Kiya Koda Humane Society, Helping Hand and The Good Shepherd Fund at The Village. Online condolences may be made to www.overtonfunerals.com.
