Angela Rudin Graham, 87, of Leavenworth, Kan., passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.
She was born Aug. 27, 1928, in San Jose, Costa Rica, the daughter of Fernando and Angela Rudin.
She came to Ohio at 16 to study for three years and then went to Venezuela as the executive secretary for the President of TACA Airlines. While in Venezuela, she met and married David W. Graham. After a few years, they returned to Kansas City, where they had four children.
Angela is survived by sons, David Graham of Lenexa, Michael Graham of Leavenworth and Richard Graham and family of Monmouth, Ore.; and daughter, Suzanne Graham and family of Dallas.
In the 1980’s, she returned to education at KCK Community College, followed by the University of Kansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. During this time, she studied drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry-making, etching, textiles, wood and plastic sculpture. The form she most enjoyed was bronze sculpture, which she studied under well-known sculptor, Elden Tefft. Throughout her life, she was fortunate enough to have travelled extensively with her husband to many unusual places around the world. During her retirement years, she helped her son run Mike’s CDs in Leavenworth.
A memorial visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date.
