Funeral services for Mr. Harris Gentry Copeland, 84, of Alpine, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Steele, Rev. John Copeland, Rev. Darrek Copeland, and Rev. Tim Buford officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gentry, a business man, died Friday, November 24, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born December 5, 1915, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Harris Elmo and Martha Sells Copeland.

He operated a coal mine and store and was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the Shiloh Masonic Lodge, York Rite Mason, and Al Menah Shrine in Nashville.

Survivors include his wife, Cleopatra Copeland, Alpine; a son, Joseph Wayne Copeland, Alpine; three daughters, Peggy Wood, Judy Buford, and Carol Ashburn, all of Livingston; two nieces, Janie Mynatt and Hope Jackson; a nephew, Dr. Michael Allred; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Copeland, Jeff Copeland, Steven Buford, Greg Buford, David Ashburn, Neil Ashburn, and Chris Copeland.

Honorary pallbearers were L.G. Puckett Jr., Villard Maynord, Roy Pennington, and Bob Howell
