Virginia Ann Benson, age 65, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Benson was born March 7, 1950, in Searcy, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John Lester, Sr. and Kathleen Swinford Bates.
Mrs. Benson was reared and received her education in Altheimer, graduating in 1968. She attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff two years and graduated from Southeast Arkansas College with a degree in Business Management.
Mrs. Benson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altheimer. She had worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for fourteen years, retiring in 2013, as a supervisor of the tool room.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Jerry Benson, whom she married September 1, 1977, in Pine Bluff; sons, Steve Dewayne Foote and wife, Gwen, of Pine Bluff and Jeffery Allen Foote of Pine Bluff; step-son, David Bryan Benson and wife, Leilani, of Beebe; four grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, Caitlin and Dylan Foote; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Ann Foote; six brothers, Jimmy Bates of Queens, New York, Gerald Bates and wife, Linda Kaye, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Johnny L. Bates and wife, Carolyn, of Pine Bluff, Charles Bates and wife, Kay, of Rowell, Ronnie Bates and wife, Nancy, of Pine Bluff and Donnie Bates and wife, Tami, of Sheridan; one sister, Debbie Mulherin and husband, George, of Wynne.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 19, 2016, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Sammy Alverson officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain Springs Cemetery near Cabot at 2:30 PM.
The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Friday morning from 9:30 AM untill service time.
