Born to John & Lena (Hannaford) Blankenship on March 11, 1941 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
He attended Southern Baptist College & shared 50 years of marriage with Greta (McCarroll) Blankenship. He lived most of his life in Black Rock & Jonesboro, Arkansas. He retired after a 30 year career with the Arkansas Department of Finance in the Jonesboro field office & later moved to Little Rock . He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening & just being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Greta (McCarroll) Blankenship and one sister; Joyce Hughes.
He is survived by his Son; Mark Blankenship and wife Robin of Little Rock, two grandsons; Brian Blankenship and wife Leslie of Conway, Ar., Justin Blankenship and wife Brittany of Bryant, Ar., one brother; Leroy Blankenship of Batesville, Ar., two sisters; Barbara Hill of Bay & Connie Simkoviak of Brookland, Ar., & one great-grandson, Elliot Blankenship of Conway, Ar.
Visitation will be held at, House-Gregg Funeral Chapel, in Walnut Ridge, Ar on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 1 pm with funeral Services to follow at 2pm. Interment will be at Oak Forrest Cemetery in Black Rock, Ar. with Bro. Harold Russell officiating under direction of House-Gregg Funeral Homes of Walnut Ridge and Lynn, Ar.
