Marjorie M. Riendeau, age 92 of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Grand Rapids. Margie was born in 1923 to Arthur and Anna Lussier in Poplar River, MN. She was united in marriage to Elmer Riendeau on August 24, 1939 in Brooks, MN. In 1946, they moved to Grand Rapids and built their home.

Margie was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 60 years. She loved her God Jehovah with all her heart. Serving him and sharing knowledge of him, his son Jesus, and all the wonderful promises found in the Bible gave her great joy.

She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and housekeeper, particularly known for her homemade bread and special desserts. She was never caught without wonderful things to eat when unexpected company arrived. Her pies, bismarks, and cookies were always readily available to go with the endless pots of coffee. When her daughters were young, she sewed their clothing. As they grew older, she designed and sewed prom dresses for them, even some of their bridesmaid’s dresses. Her house was always spotless. It wasn’t unusual to see her with a cleaning cloth and a small paring knife to get all the corners immaculately clean.

Margie loved her flowers and especially her moss roses that grew so beautifully in the front of her home. Her morning glories would climb outside her kitchen windows to the delight of those inside.

She was a very kind and thoughtful person, ready to help anyone. She liked to take long walks and stay fit. She loved to dance. When she and Elmer waltzed, it looked as though they floated across the room. Her dress and grooming were always important to her. She had a great sense of style. She truly was a classy lady.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Elmer; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include daughters: Rudella (David) Berger, Doreen (Larry) Vangen, and Beatrice (Ron) Houwman; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and siblings: Madonna Asselin, Jeanie O’Neill, Ted Lussier and LaVerne Lussier.

Inurnment in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery.
