James Edward Hughey, age 75, resident of Piperton, departed this life Friday afternoon, February 12, 2016 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Hughey will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with visitation one hour before services. Remarks will be given by Rhonda Hughey. Interment was private. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Hughey was born April 17, 1940 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Whitehaven High School and a lifelong resident of the North Mississippi and West Tennessee areas. Mr. Hughey was employed as a yard master for the railroad before his retirement and enjoyed golfing and collecting antiques.

Mr. Hughey is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hughey Layne of Memphis; two sons, Mark Hughey (Mary Anne) of Conway, AR, Christopher Hughey (Kate) of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Pat Depriest (Bob) of Hernando, MS, Shirley Lavigne of Marble Falls, TX, Sandra Houston of Germantown; two brothers, Tony Hughey (Frankie) of Greer, SC, Archie Hughey of Kansas City, MO; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee Hughey and Polly Inez Stevens Hughey and two brothers, Ronnie Hughey and Lynn Hughey.
