He was born to Henry and Mary McLaughlin Shepherd. On September 16, 1939, he married Frances Mary Bowman in Kahoka, Missouri.
Mr. Shepherd worked at Modern Welding and Campbell Chain Company before they closed. He had driven a semi prior to that.
He loved to fish, camp, and travel especially to the mountains of Colorado.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Linda Shepherd Fenton of Burlington and Vicky Shepherd, at home; sons, Donald L. Shepherd of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Tim Shepherd at home; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Luella Shepherd of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and two sisters.
The funeral service was held at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating.
